Description
Modular system
The watermaker is composed of separate modules that can be installed to maximize the available space on the boat. The components table shows the approximate required volumes. The individual modules are supplied pre-assembled and laboratory-tested. The necessary cables and pipes for the system are also provided.
Installation
The installer must position the watermaker modules on board the vessel, connecting pipes and cables, and perform final testing, as specified in the installation manual. Installation Requirements: A seacock (below the waterline) of the type shown in the figure (for use of the watermaker while underway) and a seacock (above the waterline) are required. The system must be installed below the waterline. A 12V or 24V power source capable of delivering a continuous power equal to or greater than that indicated in the table is required.
Safety and performance with power inverters
The watermaker operates with a power inverter that powers a high-performance 230V motor for continuous operation. The advantage is the use of low currents. Similar 12V motors would require currents approaching 100A, require large electrical cables, are subject to potential overheating and failures, and would not allow the system to be used continuously for several hours.
