The Tohatsu 40hp 4-Stroke combines modern design and advanced performance, offering a reduced weight of just 95 kg, the lightest in its class. The improved gearcase, with a reduced gear ratio, ensures greater power and optimal thrust in all sailing conditions.
Thanks to electronic fuel injection and a microcomputer-programmed ignition system, the engine ensures quick starts and immediate response. The high-output 21-amp alternator ensures a constant supply of power, while the redesigned lower-ratio gearbox delivers superior low-end torque.
Maneuverability is optimized with adjustable steering friction and trim tabs that reduce steering effort. Models with electric trim and tilt offer even more precise control to adapt to every need.
Comfort and durability are ensured by advanced design solutions, such as the through-propeller exhaust for quieter cruising and the integrated freshwater flushing system for easier maintenance. The variable idle control, adjustable between 650 and 950 rpm, allows you to adapt the speed to different usage situations.
The shaft-driven, trochoidal oil pump ensures effective lubrication, while the stainless steel liner of the water pump housing ensures strength and durability.
Safety is paramount, with visual and audible warnings for low oil pressure and overheating, start-in-gear protection, and a safety lanyard, standard on all Tohatsu outboards. A rev limiter protects the engine from overload, ensuring reliability and consistent performance.
